Buying Beltie Beef

Belties Breed Better Beef

Belted Galloways are perfectly suited to turning rough hill pasture into the finest quality meat.   To ensure winter warmth, the Beltie has a double coat of hair rather than the layer of backfat most other breeds require. Their meat is therefore lean and succulent.

Askerton Castle EstateWe're delighted to launch this section by featuring Askerton Castle in Cumbria where Jane Eden and Chris Evans have been producing organic meat for some time.

Askerton is an organic livestock farm specialising in hardy native breeds and including the Belted Galloway. It is situated in the wild countryside near Hadrian's Wall in North East Cumbria. Much of the farm is in stewardship and it is an area of outstanding beauty. Visitors are always welcome.

Jane and Chris prepare all their beef at the farm's own butchery giving them full control over quality and preparation. They believe passionately in what they do, constantly producing great tasting meat.  Farm produce including 'Beltie beef'  is also available via mail order with a home delivery service available.  Interested in tasting it for yourself?  Go to  www.askertoncastle.co.uk for full details.
