Three Counties Results

Show Report – Royal Three Counties Show, Malvern, Worcs. 17-19th June

The Three Counties Show has become the natural successor to the Royal Show in terms of livestock entries, with once again a splendid turnout of several hundred beef and dairy cattle. The three day show now features Belted Galloway classes on the Saturday as well as classes within the separate Rare Breed Survival Trust’s show which takes place on the Sunday. This means a double opportunity for Beltie breeders to show their cattle over the three day period.

Making the trip to the Three Counties for the judging this year was past Society Chair and long-time breeder Ms Liz Wilkinson from the Poplar herd in Cumbria. Entries of Belties this year were down on the past couple of years but, with the exception of the bull class, there was good competition in all classes. Prizes were awarded to first and second.

The Southern Breeders Group organised a Society Breed Stand which was awarded 1st prize in the RBST show and a very credible 4th prize in the Three Counties Show, amongst stiff competition from the big commercial breeds.

Finally - a special mention to Oliver Perkins who showed his Beltie calf commendably in the Young Handlers classes.
