BELTED GALLOWAY CATTLE SOCIETY HERD BOOK

REGISTRATION  PROCEDURE

Herd Book entry forms for calves are available from the Secretary

The entry fees are £25 for a Male of any age.

£20 for a Female under 12 months old.

£40 for a Female over 12 months old.

Calves should be registered by their breeders (the person on whose farm they were born and the owner of the cow at that time) and have the breeder's Herd Prefix. The onus is on the breeder when selling a heifer calf along with its mother to register it before sale.

All males intended to be kept for breeding must have a DNA Certificate of  Analysis. The hair sampling kit is available from the Secretary.

The calf's official Ministry ear tag number should be put on the Herd Book entry form, also the pedigree details, date of birth, colour, and sketch of the animal's belt, also show any small white markings on feet of females.

Males must have no white other than the belt and must be from fully registered parents. Females with incomplete belts are ineligible for registration.

When the entry form is completed please return the white one to the Society with the appropriate fee. Retain the yellow copy for your own records.

Transfers of ownership cost £5 each and are payable by the purchaser. Please do not write on the Certificate, send it to the Society to type on the date and new ownership. Future calves cannot be registered unless the Certificate of the cow has been transferred.
