Ayr Show

10th May 2014

Mr Finlay judged the Belted Galloways this first year of the show being a one day only show. Despite mixed weather and a lot of mud it was a busy show and as ever the Belties attracted a lot of attention. The show was very pleased to welcome 4 new exhibitors this year. JR and CJ Ward from Whitstonehill, Tundergarth, Lockerbie brought a lovely 3 year old heifer, she is in calf to their stock bull Lomondside Tobermory.

M McKinnon and E Belcher, Blair Farm, Old Dailly, Ayrshire brought 5 cattle from their newly formed herd handled by Brian, Meg and Ian McKnight. The owner's 2 daughters also enthusiastically took part, leading 2 lovely heifers in the pairs class and then in the young handler class. The 7 year old Broadmeadow cow Haze won the family their first Belted Galloway prize, Reserve Champion.
