North Somerset Show

6th May 2013

Our first show outing for 2013 was to The North Somerset Show on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May. There was a very good turnout of cattle and also of visitors! The weather was blistering hot and we were the only Belties there in the 'Any other pure native beef breed classes'. The judge was Mr R Mitchell, Buckland, Newtown. We were competing against Longhorns, Shorthorns and Red Polls. The first class was for heifers born in 2012, this was a very strong class and we got 3rd here with Shelsleys Esther, the next class was for heifers born in 2011, we got 2nd  in this class with Shelsleys Dazzle. Next came the cow or heifer with calf or incalf class and we came 2nd to a Red Poll cow and calf with our incalf heifer Shelsleys Columbine. There was a junior bull class but we didn't bring an entry, so the next one for us was the Senior bull class for an animal born before 1.1.12, we won this class with Shelsleys Travis who also came 2nd in the pairs with Dazzle.

There were prizes for the lines and we got third for our Beltie line up and breed information.
